yak 40 v2 Systems

Hi to everyone.

Iam new to this forum, but old to MSFS, I hope this is the right place for my questions if not sorry. I have recently taken a liking to Russian aircrafts especially the An26, yak52, and the yak40. I recently installed the amazing freeware yak40v2 which has an excellent panel by Wishmaster. The tutorial is not too clear for me to understand and the checklist is in Russian. However after numerous hours of reading through the forums, searching online, translating Russian to English, and learning cyrillic characters. I was able to go from starting the AI-9, AI-25, and understanding most of the systems.

However there are still some problems and things I dont understand. I will start with a few items and then expand

and I hope some kind hearted person will be able to help me.

1) At take/off the center engine fails - Did I miss some procedure or switch?

2) Anti - Ice Panel what are these switches - PPD Heating, DUA Heating (pitot heat? maybe), RIO switches, and

POS auto, POS- Min/Max.

3) There is a switch on the pedastal near the throttle calle Booster, what is it for?

Thanks for your help

RAID

1) APU should be off - otherwise engine surging occurs

2) PPD - ППД - Pito, don't understnd the rest - please make a screenshot

3) Boosters are specific engineer decision - like hydraulic assist in cars - without boosters you aren't able control ailerones, tail etc. with steering wheel

RIO switch is a Radio-Isotope Ice detector, flicker the switch and the detector is ON.

DUA - Angle of attack indicator - it is a part of Stall Warning system on Yak-40.

The other switches do in fact control the Anti-Ice system in different modes.

We need a screenshot for that booster switch, since there was no control boosting on a Yak-40.

Ok, hi , sorry for the delay. I had to learn how to screencapture and working it in paint.net. Here are the shots:

Also the APU is off after start up. I tried take off with reduced center engine power but it still shuts down during the roll. Has me baffled.

The "Booster" switch you are referring to deactivates the main stabilizer control system. You can see that it is guarded and is red. It is only to be used in abnormal situations.

Screenshot number 3 is the control panel for GMK-1 system. This system displays magnetic course on the captain and co-pilot HSI's (КППМС).

The last screenshot displays a fixed card ADF indicator. The arrows point to NDB beacons if the respective ADF receivers are tuned.

As far as a shutting down engine goes... There probably is something fishy with the way you control bleed air output, but I cannot say for sure.

As far as I remember Air Conditioning should be off during takeoff.

Hello,

Thanks so much everyone for the timely reply. Ok, booster off for flight. The GMK i can figure out little by little. I suspected the bleed configuration might be causing the #2 engine flameout on takeoff because A/C was on during T/O. I still have to fully understand how the switches work.

One or two other things I would like some help on please..

1) post-80034-0-08865000-1349493918_thumb.png The ADF on/off switch doesn't move but frequencey input is possible.

2)post-80034-0-20308700-1349494029.png The RMI indicator needles keep rotating do not seem to point to any beacon, ie, ADF on/off switch. There is a ADF facility at the airport the yak 40 is located but the ADF can't seem to find it. The other gauge I think is the Fuel Qty gauge, am I right?.

3) post-80034-0-47732900-1349494222.png Here is the AC bleed air switches, can someone please tell me what each switch means I numbered them for easy reference.

Thanks a lot.

Hey everyone,

Well, T/O with AC and bleed air offf, was the answer to center engine not shutting down on take off. However, in T/O configuration I could not get the aircraft to climb, the nose would rotate but she could barley get 100 ft/min I was going through trees and hills. I increased the [jet_engine]

thrust_scalar from 1.00 to 1.4600 and the aircraft took off normally with a decent climb rate. My last problem hopefully is to undersatnd the ADF workings and the GMK. I like the aircraft. Thanks for the help so far, Iam a lot happier.

If the ADF is tuned to a station, then a green light above the tuning knobs should illuminate. Make sure that electricity is supplied to the ADF receiver. There are several Transformers and Inverters on Yak-40 which feed the various avionics systems. Sometimes pressing SHIFT+X works (this switches on/off the avionics master in default FS9 logic).

The other gauge is indeed the fuel indicator, you can check LEFT/TOTAL/RIGHT fuel amounts according to the position of the switch below the gauge.

I would not play around with flight dynamics of this airplane, as it should be fairly accurate already. Try to see whether you have set the C of G correctly as well as flaps/gear.

Ok so I reset the jet engine scalar to default. Here is the take off settings, TOW 30000 lb almost 8000lbs below.

flaps 20, stab trim 1.85 up, bleed air off. Field elevation 447, KPWT runway length 6300 feet. At Vr aircraft will not leave the ground even though nose is 10 degrees up. As a result I have to change the jet engine scalar to 1.46 this is the min that the palne will fly normally. After take off almost everything works fine except the ADF / VOR system.

In regards to avionics power there are three swithces I can find I dont know what they do but they seem to be inverters or transfomers they are all on.

1 PT500 RLS

2 PT500 AP

3 PO 1500

I will have to find more reading to figure out the Nav system .

Dear friends,

Curious and impressed by the size of the download, 121MB, I downloaded the Yak-40 from this site. ( 50079-yak40-2-2-2-full-free-fs9.zip)

And now I have a wonderful little aircraft which I don't know how to handle, the right way. :)

I did read about documentation available on the website of Suprunov, but the website doesn't exists anymore.

Is there another website from which I can download the manuals?

Greetings from the Netherlands,

Theo

Hello Theo, sadly, Igor Suprunov has been viciously murdered a year ago that's why his website vanished. Here you will find the missing Flight Manual for this model.

Greetings from Mordor and happy landings!

P.S. Not sure about its current status but when Igor was alive this model used to be a commercial software. As far as I understand it was mainly his hobby: being a professional airliner pilot Igor wasn't financially dependent on model's sales (don't know about out other team members in this regard though). If you feel like you enjoyed the model you might like to express gratitude and support his relatives via FB. Alternatively, you can use credentials provided in this topic (in Russian).

Thanks yoyo!

And, I'm shocked. I did read that Igor Suprunov died a year ago, but I never realised how. One reason more to fly this aircraft with honor and dignity

I know it was payware but as I wrote, I found it on AvsimRus: http://www.avsimrus.com/f/fs2004-aircrafts-40/yak-40-ex-sd-version-2-2-2-for-fs9-50079.html?action=download&hl=

and so I assume it is freeware now.

I'll try and translate the other links you gave me! :)

Thanks again!

Theo

Yes, I know, that's all right. Both archives: the model itself and its manual should be linked to each other in the file library now.

You are welcome!
