Early reports say the engine was 100% fine. The crash was due to the pilot not having his hand on the throttle for takeoff along with the pilot's inability to maintain proper climb attitude. I hope this guy never flies again for our safety.
Landing on a grass runway in Hawera, in the middle of the North Island of New Zealand in the Taranaki region after a dawn fllight with the Wellington Aero Club. My first sort of cross-country flight with an instructor. I should've sorted my hair out prior to landing, yes =)
